Company News Aviation Safety Action Program Reinstated at ComairPublished: 15-May-2009
ASAP allows and encourages employees to report safety issues and protects employees who report problems from disciplinary actions or the imposition of sanctions. These reports enhance safety by alerting management to potential issues that might otherwise go unreported. “Safety is the first concern of every pilot,” said Capt. Matt Lamparter, chairman of the Comair pilots union, represented by the Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA). “This program’s return helps ensure the continued safety of every passenger on Comair flights, and also demonstrates how effective pilots and management can be when they work together.” The official reinstatement of the program required the approval of all three parties - ALPA, the FAA and Comair. The program will be fully implemented within the next thirty to sixty days. “Reinstating this important program reaffirms Comair’s commitment to continue developing a strong safety culture,” said Comair President John Bendoraitis. “Programs such as ASAP are designed to help provide a safe and reliable work environment for our employees and travel experience for our passengers.” ABOUT COMAIR, INC.
