Pilot.html Minimum Qualifications:
  • Commercial Pilot Certificate with a multi-engine airplane & instrument rating
  • ATP Preferred ; ATP Written Required
  • Current first-class medical certificate
  • FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit
  • Must have a valid passport
  • High School diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred
  • Be at least 21 years old
  • Legally authorized to work in the USA
  • Must be able to read, speak and write fluent English.
  • 1000 total flight hours
  • 200 total multi-engine hours
  • Comair provides an advanced CRJ transition program
  • Program combines the best of an industry proven Jet Transition Program with our current CRJ initial program

Comair Pilots are assigned to one of our two domiciles: CVG – Cincinnati, OH, or JFK – New York, NY.

Interview Process

Candidates will be put through a two-part interview process that includes a cognitive evaluation and an interview conducted by Human Resources and Flight Operations. Candidates will need to bring all original log books, certificates and licenses. Space available travel will be provided by Comair.

Pay

Pilots are paid based on the number of flight hours flown each month. A reserve pilot will receive a minimum of 75 credit hours per month. Line holder pay is based on 82 to 92 hours and is paid on the higher of scheduled or actual flight time. Our pay scales are negotiated by the Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA).

Savings and Investment Plan (401k): Employees are eligible to participate in the plan immediately. The company matches a percentage of your contributions after one year of service. An employee becomes fully vested in the company match after two years of service.

Training

Comair's ground training is conducted in our corporate headquarters at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky (CVG) International Airport in state-of-the-art classrooms with automated visual aids. Flight training will be conducted in one of five Level D simulators on sight in CVG. Additional training equipment Comair pilots utilize is computer workstations and Cockpit Procedure Trainers (CPT). Comair pays for housing during training.

Reserve

New pilots are assigned to reserve flying and must be available to fly on a 14-hour standby basis when on reserve. While on reserve, pilots must be able to report to work with a minimum of 90-minutes notice. Reserve pilots can plan on 11 to 12 days off a month, and will be on reserve for the first 10 to 14 months of employment.
